Crackle, Sizzle, Pop!

There were more than fireworks popping on the Fourth of July this year!!

As I mentioned before, our family was getting together with Kate and Charlie's family to celebrate this July 4th and I must say that the evening was a bang!

We arrived at their home a little later than expected since poor dear hubby was stuck with on-call duty for the weekend, and he had gotten a call about the same time we were headed out the door.

We arrived at their home around 5pm and all the kids immediately got in the pool.
Soon after, we got everything together for dinner and sat down to a wonderful meal of chicken, brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad and a scrumptious fruit salad.
Just like the potato salad that I had made, Kate's fruit salad was also a recipe that had also been carried down for generations, and I can tell ya that I've never tasted a fruit salad so good!! Good cooking must run in their family, because the meat that Charlie had made was also very yummy! He even mentioned that he's won a few awards during some of the cook-offs that he's participated in, and I can see/taste why!

Not long after finishing dinner, and at the top popping sound of hubby's first beer of the evening, he received a call again to go into work.
Charlie volunteered to ride along with him and to see what it is that hubby actually does. So off they went.
This gave Kate and I a chance to talk more and get to know each other a little better. We sat out by the pool while the kids laughed and splashed around and we sipped on our Liquid Berry Alcohol Concoction that I brought out for us to enjoy. The drink was such a hit with her, that I'm thinking about patenting it.. LOL!

We talked and we talked, and found that we have more in common that we had originally thought. We talked about the lifestyle, things that got us into the lifestyle, polyamory, our sexuality and just about every topic we could think of. There was never a moment of pause, and the conversation flowed very easily and freely.
The guys returned about an hour and a half later about the same time as the sky was turning to dusk.

They live a little out of the way where it's not quite the country, but nowhere near a big city. It was very nice and peaceful and I felt right at home as the crickets and the bull frogs began their evening songs.
The guys gathered up the fireworks that they had accumulated and set out a plan of action on how they were going to set it all off.
Kate and I refreshed our drinks and got settled in to watch the show as the kids were hovered as closely as they could to their driveway to make sure they didn't miss a minute of firework mania.

Kate and I continued to talk throughout the fireworks display and at one point she had gotten up to refill her glass and when she returned, she stood behind me. She stood there for just a moment, and very nonchalantly glided her hand across the top of my bare back and stopped on my shoulder.
What shivers coursed through my body at the slightest of movements by her! Her skin touching mine was very innocent but at the same time, very thrilling.
I reached my hand up towards hers, and we clenched our hands together for just a moment as to not draw attention to anyone who would think otherwise.
From this action, I knew that Kate was as into me as I was into her, and I was THRILLED!!!

At one point, we were both looking up into the sky as the colors were shooting across and she commented, "The fireworks are beautiful, but not as beautiful as you!", and as she did this, she wrapped her arm around my waist and pulled me closer to her side.
I could not believe what I was hearing.. here is this gorgeous gal with the best personality and she thinks that I'm beautiful? HOLY COW!!!
I think I actually had to pinch myself for a moment to see if I was really awake!

The evening ended with plans to see each other again on the 17th, if not sooner. Oh.. I can't wait to see her again, and away from the prying eyes of children!

Hubby and I discussed the possibility of Kate and myself seeing each other, and he gave me his full blessing to pursue a relationship with her.
All four of us get along great, we have many commonalities, and our kids even had a blast playing together.
He told me that this is what I have wanted for a very long time, and he's happy for me!

Ooohhh, how I can't wait to see her again!!!

The Potato and Our Nation's Independence

As any self respecting southern woman would, I planned on making a potato salad for our little shindig for the 4th of July with Kate, Charlie and their family.
A store bought salad will just not do, as most southern women take pride in their homemade potato salads, as do I.

The recipe that I have is a family recipe that has been passed down and I've never had anyone run for the emergency room as of yet.. so I guess I'm doing something right. lol!

As I stood in the kitchen peeling the mound of potatoes that were before me, I thought about our soldiers who are out there in other countries and about past soldiers who fought for and to keep our independence.
Why would my mind wander to soldiers?
Well, if you've had a loved one in the military, then I'm sure you've heard the stories of the dreaded KP (Kitchen Patrol) duty. One wrong move and your little hiney would end up there peeling potatoes, onions and anything else they needed to feed the massive amounts of men and women.
Some men and women even enrolled in that division as to avoid being in direct combat. I'm really not sure which is worse because peeling potatoes is definitely not a fun chore especially if you are peeling for thousands.

On this year's Fourth of July celebration (although a day late in posting), I salute all of you men and women out there who have thought enough about the rest of us to take time out of your lives to serve our country and to fight for the freedoms that we have.
I give a warm, Texan hug to all of you out there who have lost loved ones while they were serving. Their great sacrifice is very much appreciated!
I thank all of my family who have served and continue to serve in varying branches of  the military; including U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marines.

Whether serving on the front lines, from an office desk, in a hospital, or peeling potatoes in a kitchen somewhere in a land that is not your own.. your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed... at least not by me!

Thank you!

A Date With Kate!

Ok.. maybe not a full fledged date, but at least we are getting together.
Granted, our husbands and children will also be there, but the point is, is that I get to spend some time with her.
I refer to this woman as "Kate" because she is just about the spitting image of the actress Kate Mara!

You can imagine my surprise when I received an email from her a little over a month ago, confessing her attraction to me!
She found my profile on a site for swingers that we are a part of.
Their (her and her husband's) profile, mirrors ours almost exactly, which is quite a rare thing we have found in the 2+ years that we have been actively been involved in the lifestyle.
Kate and myself have been talking quite frequently and have met once at a club and spent some time getting to know each other there, but it will be nice to see her out of the flashing lights and loud music which makes it difficult to really get to know someone.

Today is the big day, and I'm really excited! We'll be going over to their house to celebrate this year's Independence Day with some bar-b-q, and weather permitting... going for a swim in the pool.
When evening arrives, we'll all gather around a bon fire and shoot off fireworks deep into the cool breeze of the country's night sky.
They live quite a bit off of the beaten path down a dirt road so it will be nice to see the fireworks without the landscape of the city in the background. The colors will definitely shine!

So.. lookout for an update on how the day went, as I'm sure I'll be full of all sorts of details!! :-D
